Message someone directly and block people
Send a private message to another player, block someone from messaging you, unblock them, and delete a conversation.
Send a private message to someone you met in a group, and block people you do not want to hear from. (Under a minute. You need the OpenCourt app, signed in.)
Start a direct message
- Open a group you share with the person.
- Tap the settings icon at the top right. Group details opens.
- Under Members, tap the person.
- Tap Message. Your conversation opens.
- Type your message and tap the blue arrow to send.
The conversation shows in Groups with Direct message under the person's name. Only the two of you are in it, and it does not show in your club's admin tools.

You can send text and photos, and react to messages, as in a group. Mentions do not work in direct messages.
Block someone
Blocking stops a person from sending you direct messages. It does not remove them from groups you share.
- Open your conversation with the person and tap the settings icon at the top right.
- Tap Block.
- Tap Block again to confirm.
You can also block from the person's profile: tap Block user under the Message button.
Unblock someone
- Tap Profile at the bottom of the app.
- Tap Blocked Users.
- Tap Unblock next to the person.
Delete a conversation
- Open the conversation and tap the settings icon at the top right.
- Tap Delete.
- Choose one:
- Delete for me — the conversation leaves your list, and its earlier messages are hidden for you. The other person keeps their copy. If they write again, the conversation comes back with only the new messages.
- Delete for both — the conversation and its messages are gone for both of you. You cannot undo this.

If something goes wrong
- There is no Message button on someone's profile. One of you blocked the other, or the person's profile is private. If you blocked them, unblock them from Profile → Blocked Users.
- "You can't message this user" shows instead of the message box. The person blocked you, so you cannot send them messages.
- Someone is harassing me in a group. Block them to stop direct messages, and tell your club. The club can remove or block them from the group.
