Add your email DNS records at GoDaddy
Where to find your DNS settings at GoDaddy, and how to add the DKIM, Return-Path and DMARC records for your club's email.
Add the DNS records for your club's email at GoDaddy, so OpenCourt can send your email campaigns and booking emails from your own domain. (About 10 minutes.)
Before you begin
- Add your domain in OpenCourt first. Go to Settings → Email settings and add it in the Sending domain card (see Turn on email campaigns for your club). Keep that card open in another browser tab: you copy each Host and Value from it.
- Did you add a subdomain, such as mail.yourclub.com? Delete only your main domain from the end of each host: pm-bounces.mail.yourclub.com becomes pm-bounces.mail.
- Your domain's DNS is at GoDaddy. Your nameservers end in domaincontrol.com. If they don't, see Find where your domain's DNS is managed.
Open your DNS records
- Sign in to GoDaddy and open your Domain Portfolio.
- Select your domain to open its Domain Settings page.
- Select DNS.
Add the DKIM record
- Select Add New Record.
- In Type, choose TXT.
- In Name, paste the DKIM Host from OpenCourt, then delete your domain from the end. For example, 20261028123456pm._domainkey.yourclub.com becomes 20261028123456pm._domainkey. The number in your host is different.
- In Value, paste the DKIM Value.
- Leave TTL as it is.
Add the Return-Path record
- Select Add More Records (or Add New Record).
- In Type, choose CNAME.
- In Name, paste the Return-Path Host, then delete your domain from the end. For example, pm-bounces.yourclub.com becomes pm-bounces.
- In Value, paste the Return-Path Value.
- Select Save (or Save All Records if you added both at once).
If GoDaddy asks for a verification code, enter the code it sends you. Domains with GoDaddy's Domain Protection ask for this on every change.
Add the DMARC record (if OpenCourt recommends it)
Do this only if the DMARC row in OpenCourt says Recommended. If it says Published, skip it.
- Select Add New Record, and choose TXT.
- In Name, paste the DMARC Host, then delete your domain from the end. For yourclub.com, this leaves _dmarc.
- In Value, paste the DMARC Value from OpenCourt.
- Select Save.
Verify in OpenCourt
Go back to the Sending domain card and click Check verification. GoDaddy says most changes take effect within an hour. When both records show Found, the card turns green: Domain verified. Then continue with step 3 of Turn on email campaigns.
If something goes wrong
- A record shows Not found after a few hours — open it at GoDaddy and check the Name. If it still ends in your domain, GoDaddy saved it as pm-bounces.yourclub.com.yourclub.com. Delete your domain from the end.
- GoDaddy says the name is already in use — a record with that name exists. Edit the existing record instead of adding a new one.
- You don't see a DNS option for your domain — your DNS may be managed somewhere else. See Find where your domain's DNS is managed.
- You need help inside GoDaddy — contact GoDaddy's support. For anything in OpenCourt, email support@getopencourt.com.
